Questions

How do you know if a service is down?+
Every 5 minutes our server sends one request to each service's main address and waits up to 8 seconds. No answer, or an HTTP status of 500 or above, counts as a failed check. A failed check is tried once more before it is recorded.
A service shows as up here but it does not work for me. Why?+
We check one address from one location. A service can have a broken feature, or a fault in your region only, while its main address still answers. Open the service on this page for steps to test it yourself and a link to its own status page.
Why do some services show "cannot check"?+
Some sites refuse automated requests from servers. Our checks of them fail even when the site works, so we show "cannot check" instead of a false "down".
Can I check a site that is not on this list?+
